Weekend

What a weekend!

Friday night was Poker with some friends, needless to say I think boys should be playing poker and not us girls.  We just chatted the whole night, never really cared for the game, much to the annoyance of the men.  Oh well at least we know now, that next time we will have segregation to prevent irritation – Hahaha.

Saturday was a good day at gym, finally broke my Biking Target of 10km in 18.27 minutes (Under 20 minutes).  I was truly so proud of myself, it has taken me over 2 weeks to get there!  Also planned a routine for the next two weeks, finally getting swimming in on weekends – BIKINI BODY ON THE WAY!!!

Later in the evening we headed to the State Theatre to watch Ballet of Romeo and Juliet (SABT) it was amazing.  I have never seen a live ballet and was moved to tears, this has been on my bucket list for a year now – so great feeling to get it off the list.

Sunday was date night as well – Dinner and movies.  Hangover 2 was AWESOMELY FUNNY! If you didn’t mind the crude and rude it was totally enjoyable.

So its Manic Monday – Back to work with this winter chill I would much rather wanted to stay snuggled in bed!

MARMITE BANNED IN DENMARK

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13536479

By law, Danish authorities must give their permission for products with such additives to be sold.

In recent years they have banned several well-known items - including the chocolate malt drink Ovaltine and some breakfast cereals.

Already a shop in Copenhagen has been ordered to remove jars of the British delicacy from its shelves.

BBC Europe correspondent Chris Morris says there are suggestions that the Danish ban could break European law.

Outraged expats in Denmark are threatening a campaign of civil disobedience, he says.

Nutritionist Melanie Brown told the BBC she believed a ban on Marmite, which is rich in B-vitamins, as well riboflavin and niacin, was counterproductive.

"Marmite plays such a useful part in many people's diet, and in my practice it's incredibly useful for older people...who are short in vitamin B-12.

"It's full of folic acid, and there's lots of evidence that many women, young women of child-bearing age are deficient in folic acid," she said.

Kelloggs withdrew some brands of breakfast cereal from the country after the legislation passed in 2004 but Marmite had previously escaped unnoticed, reports the UK's Guardian newspaper.

"What am I supposed to put on my toast now?" the newspaper reported British advertising executive Colin Smith, who has lived in the country for six years, as saying.

"I still have a bit left in the cupboard, but it's not going to last long."

PARYS WEEKEND

PARYS WEEKEND – May 2011

Wow wee what a lovely weekend!

Friday I attended the annual NOSCAR awards at the Monte Casino Ballroom – theme was Burlesque and wow what a fun evening.

Saturday we made our way to Parys as it was Bronwen and Thijs’ wedding – fab evening with wonderful people.

Sunday we had breakfast with everyone again and headed to town to get the Tourist photos.

Parys is a small town in the Free-state (Parys is the Afrikaans name for Paris) so it was only the right thing to do to get my picture taken with their EIFEL TOWER.  We also visited the DELL CHEETAH CENTRE and got the chance to get up close and personal with some of the cheetahs – What an experience!!

Jesse Clegg

JESSE CLEGG ALBUM LAUNCH (Life on Mars)

Wednesday 11 May 2011

A wintery Wednesday night could not have been a more perfect time for the  Jesse Clegg album launch.

The Venue at Melrose Arch was the perfect intimate location for an event like this.

The evening started with walking down the red-carpet (no flashing cameras) with press checking in with the fans.

This was unusual for an event like this to have fans (winners of tickets) to the event present - These type of events are generally for “PRESS ONLY”.

The evening officially started with the MC and Producer announcing that the evening was the launch of the 2nd Album Life on Mars and the music video for Clarity.  The music video played and wow it was the perfect teaser to the show, I was hoping that the band would interrupt the music video and play while it was projected on the wall, but alas that never happened.

The band came on stage after the music video and started with the song END OF THE RAINBOW – Real rock concert with lights smoke machines and all!

The evening progressed with fans singing along, press with cameras getting there shots and the band totally rocking out!

It seemed the whole evening that the band members where having so much fun (comments on twitter confirmed what I was seeing).

Jesse Clegg did an acoustic version of Black and White – This song for me stole the show.  This was a song that showed what he is made of, deep lyrics and a talent that is on a international standard.

Jesse Clegg also seems to be very humble on stage (a quality lacking in many artists).  He introduced the band members with allot of pride and hardly mentioned himself he just said “Oh yeah and I’m Jesse”.

Jesse Clegg and the band played a few songs from his previous album and new one (Life on Mars).

The evening ended and felt like it was just enough to keep us all happy and enticed to go and get LIFE ON MARS!

Needless to say I was first in line on Thursday (12/05/2011) to pick up his new album LIFE ON MARS.

Jesse Clegg keep up the good work – You make us PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN – Let your music ROCK the industries boots off of them!
